Many gels are engineered to a set ratio, around 0.8:1 fructose to glucose, to use both sugar absorption pathways in the gut (glucose via SGLT1, fructose via GLUT5). Raw Electrolyte Honey uses real, raw Marri honey instead of a lab formulated blend, so our ratio comes from nature, sitting closer to 2.2:1 fructose to glucose. It's still a glucose and fructose combination, so it still opens both absorption pathways. Studies show that honey has consistently matched engineered gels on blood glucose levels, carbohydrate oxidation rates and performance outcomes. Many athletes also find raw honey easier on the gut than fast acting, artificial gels. Our ratio may not match an engineered number, but sometimes the best performance comes from being able to perform, not from being under stress in the first place.
